What is BEAM Plus?

BEAM Plus is recognised and certified by the HKGBC (Hong Kong Green
Building Council), a Hong Kong’s leading initiative to offer independent
assessments of building sustainability performance.

By adopting the fair and objective assessment covered by BEAM Plus in the whole building life cycle, organizations and companies of all size can reduce environmental impacts of a new building project, improve environmental quality and enhance user satisfaction.

Using BIM authoring tool such as Revit, various requirement of BEAM Plus can be calculated and considered in design stage.

Building Separation Design Requirement in APP-152

One of the requirements is about the Building Separation Design Requirement 1 under PNAP APP-152. By controlling the continuous projected façade length (Lp), it helps to reduce the street canyon effect formed between tall buildings on both sides abutting a street. While by controlling the intervening spaces and permeable element of the development sites, it helps to reduce the walling effect of “long buildings”.

About Revit Green Plug-in for BEAM Plus

This free Revit Plug-in is developed by Synnex to help architects to automate the calculation including the site boundary, massing, street centerlines and opposite site boundaries.

The plan views of the Building Section will be generated based on the selected view. And, the following items will be calculated and shown in the Floor Plan:

Site Area
Calculation for Lp (continuous projected façade length) for below assessment zone
          • Group A: Site area that are 20,000 sqm or above
          • Group B: Site area that are less than 20,00 sqm and proposed
             Lp is 60m or above
Calculation of U (mean width of street canyon)
Testing on the requirements of Separating Distance (S) and Permeability (P) Assessment result

This plug-in can handle the building in typical and general design, and provide a quick evaluation during design review. Please do not use the calculation and assessment result for the final design approval submission.
